WorksForWeb (WFW), a software development team that authored several popular classifieds products, is announcing the release of new versions of iAuto and iRealty with multi-language support.

Website localization (single language interface) and internationalization (multi-language interface) have been the challenges few classified scripts were able to address until recently. The main issue was to provide a seamless integration of translation mechanisms into the website environment.

The market demanded an easy-to-use tool to generate classified websites in more than one language, and WFW responded to that challenge by releasing v.4.3 of their popular platform that iAuto, an auto classifieds script, and iRealty, a real estate listing script, are both based on.

From the onset, the development team had faced a tremendous task of integrating a multi-language user interface into the platform while keeping the system extremely flexible, customizable and not too different from its current version to facilitate upgrades. The team managed to accomplish that, having studied various localization/internationalization approaches and adapting the best software development practices.

One of the key achievements was to develop iAuto’s and iRealty’s multi-language support based on the language files in XML format that would store language-specific translation. To avoid any issues with multiple meanings of certain words in various contexts, WFW managed to introduce a mechanism of context-based domains that cater for grammar and vocabulary specifics of various foreign languages.

The system offers assisted translation into another language by highlighting phrases that need to be translated, creation of new languages in the admin and a seamless switch to another language on the user side. A simple xml lang file export/import mechanism is also available.

The immediate plans for further system improvement and perfection are to gather user feedback and introduce a comprehensive lang file import/export routine to replace the simple one already developed.

"We are finally able to answer the pleas of our international customers who liked our products but were unable to use them because iAuto or iRealty would not work with several languages. We are hoping to attract new customers from Europe, Asia, and South and Latin Americas by giving them easy tools for generating websites in their languages. We are growing our partner network in the target regions", says Rodion Telpizov, Director. "iAuto and iRealty, and later, iLister, are now ready for an expansion on the markets worldwide."
