About |
Inflamed Brain Alliance (IBA) is the only Canadian charity supporting children and families living with the neuropsychiatric conditions PANS and PANDAS.
PANS (Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome) and PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorder Associated with Streptococcal Infection) are caused by autoimmune antibodies attacking the basal ganglia of the brain, which are presumed to be triggered by infections, metabolic disturbances, and other inflammatory reactions. When the symptoms are not treated promptly, they can intensify and become chronic and severe.
Our mission is to serve and bring together those within and beyond the PANS/PANDAS community to improve health, deliver education, and accelerate research.
IBA provides information and community support to children and families suffering from PANS PANDAS. We raise awareness of the symptoms and treatment options for healthcare professionals so they are better equipped to recognize when a child may have PANS or PANDAS.
By assisting in bridging the gap between the onset of symptoms and beginning of treatment, IBA is committed to improving the lives of those impacted by PANS/PANDAS. We are dedicated to providing the tools, information, and resources needed for advocacy, education, support, and awareness.
