The Institute of Internal Communication (IoIC) is the professional body for internal communication practitioners in the UK.
The British Association of Communicators in Business (CiB) changed its name and status to the Institute of Internal Communication (IoIC) om 13th May 2010, having recently celebrated its 60th anniversary.
To fulfil its objectives, the IoIC focuses on:
Advocacy – promote a wider and deeper understanding of the role and value of internal communication to all;
Thought leadership – provide a body of knowledge and research to prove the impact of internal communication;
Career development – equip members with the skills and knowledge to develop and implement best practice and act as trusted advisors to leaders;
Community – provide a forum and network for internal communication practitioners to share best practice, and bring together thought leaders from related disciplines to develop insight and advice.
In addition to its national focus, the IoIC also has six regions (Central, London, North, Scotland, South, Ireland) which have their own networking and events programmes.
The IoIC provides seminars and workshops, stages a national conference, runs the largest competition for internal communication in Europe, offers training and professional development possibilities, supports a large knowledge bank, has an active freelance section and offers a tax and legal helpline.
A book on the history of the IoIC organisation is available on request. Further information and current news can be found at www.ioic.org.uk
