About |
The Kidney Patients Association Barrie and South Simcoe is a dedicated, independent organization focused on enhancing the lives of kidney patients in the Barrie, Innisfil, and Alliston areas. Their mission is to support kidney health and patient advocacy through a variety of initiatives, including community engagement, educational programs, and resource provision. Unlike other organizations, they operate independently from the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Stevenson Memorial Hospital, and the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
The association is guided by five core values:
Compassion: Providing empathetic support to patients and their families, understanding their struggles, and offering a caring community.
Advocacy: Actively working to improve healthcare policies, access to treatments, and raising awareness about kidney disease.
Empowerment: Providing patients and their families with the tools, resources, and support they need to take control of their health and well-being. This includes fostering self-advocacy, encouraging active participation in treatment decisions, helping with complaints, and promoting a sense of agency and confidence.
Collaboration: Partnering with healthcare providers, researchers, and other organizations to enhance patient care and advance kidney disease research.
Integrity: Ensuring transparency, accountability, and ethical practices in all activities and communications.
The association aims to empower kidney patients by providing essential support and fostering a sense of community among those affected by kidney disease.
