For over 20 years, Karen has used her experience in public relations and marketing to help a broad array of organizations achieve their communications goals. From non-profits to major corporations, she has used her skills as a writer, media spokesperson, communications planner and special events coordinator to help them maximize exposure to key audiences to sell more products, secure more donations and increase public awareness about a variety of causes.

In addition to her PR and marketing background, Karen has been active in SC’s economic development community. She worked in the SC Department of Commerce’s existing industry division for more than four years, as leader of the Business Recycling Assistance Program. She also coordinated the activities of the state’s Recycling Market Development Advisory Council.

Prior to leaving Commerce, Karen served as a Marketing & Communications Manager for the agency and handled spokesperson duties as well as coordinated press events for the department’s Global Business Development division, the agency's business recruitment arm. She worked with economic developers throughout SC to promote the state’s success in recruiting and retaining significant capital investment and job growth.

Karen has been active in the SC Economic Developers’ Association and is a graduate of its SC Economic Developers’ School.
