Anyone who has delved into the history of Pawleys Island, South Carolina surely has happened upon the name "Lachicotte" ( pronounced "LASH-cot"). The French family who made their home here over five generations ago has been a vital part of growing and developing what we know was Pawleys Island today. After selling the hammock shops in 1991 Arthur "Doc" Lachicotte, founded the company in 1991, applying 40 years of experience in real estate development and sales including the retail shopping complex of over 20 stores and restaurants, known as The Hammock Shops. The Lachicotte legacy continues to the next generation today as Doc's daughter, Louise "Lou" Lachicotte has taken the reigns as president and broker in charge of the family's real estate and rental business.
