About

Leaf ~ Leukaemia Educating & Fundraising is a Dorset based charity raising funds to help adults in Dorset and Hampshire affected by a blood cancer who are receiving treatment or who have needs since being discharged from hospital.

Leaf was founded from a Poole Hospital bed in 2006, Natasha Jones was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Leukaemia just three weeks after giving birth to her second son. Her treatment involved spending a number of months in isolation where she had a lot of time to reflect on what was important to her.  It was during one of these long, lonely periods of isolation that the idea of LEAF came to Natasha, feeling she wanted to turn her experience into something positive and help others that were going through the same ordeal. So Leaf was born... Natasha received the all clear in 2011 and has gone on to have her third child. A truly inspirational lady, who won the Special Woman of 2011 at The Langtry Manor Women in Business awards in May 2011.

The charity is managed by Natasha and Sara Haymes, Sara took over the role of secretary and treasurer in 2009. Along with a team of volunteers they organize a variety of events each year and now provide the following help and support to patients and families.

Family holidays, practical help at home, health club memberships. The charity also supports the Dorset Cancer Center at Poole Hospital by providing equipment and items for the ward as well as funding for nursing staff to attend study days, enabling them to gain up to date knowledge on blood cancers. Leaf also make regular donations to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research
