About

The president of New Brunswick province’s medical society is calling on to the state to come up with a comprehensive plan for women’s access to sex education and birth control. While most have applauded the government’s decision to make the Mifegymiso available in way that local women can buy abortion pill free of charge.
Nevertheless, many feel that state funding to bear the abortion pill cost doesn’t add up to the strategy. President of the local medical society commented that, there was a need to proffer better sex education in schools, in order to decrease the rates of teen pregnancy rates.
If there is a better access and understanding of sex education and birth control, the need to                             buy abortion pills online or access surgical procedures will be reduced. Therefore, she stated that providing easy access to pregnancy termination was good but the state also needed to work upstream.

Medical training expected to pick up traction
The president of the medical society Canada stated that she expects the request for medical training from physicians to increase to meet the access demand. At the time of Mifegymiso announcement, only a total amount of 24 pharmacists and doctors had completed/ registered the six-hour training required to prescribe the drug and dispense it.
Now that the state has decided to pay for the medical pregnancy termination, more women will be able to request for it.  Thus, more physicians will take the online training, - as the request increases, more physicians would receive the online training to fulfill the need for access.
Pharmacists will play a crucial role
The executive director of the of the pharmacists’ association of New Brunswick commented that the regulations surround the medication will be fluid at the moment. He opined that it was not yet clear if pharmacists can order the product, as they would generally through pharmacy distribution systems.
Nevertheless, the pharmacists can play a crucial role in the patient care and distribution with the drug to warrant it is proffered in an efficient, safe and timely manner.
