About

The Scotch Hop is held in the courtyard of the ancient Linlithgow Palace, birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. It features a mix of dance from the ceilidh, Scottish country and old time traditions. Each week there is a different live band playing traditional Scottish dance music. The event is participatory - everyone can dance. Instructions for each dance are provided by a caller before the music plays.

It's a family event for all ages. Tea / soft drinks and biscuits are included.

As this is an outdoor event it will be held in the nearby Low Port Centre (EH49 7HZ, on Blackness Road on east side of town, opposite Tesco) in adverse weather conditions.

A notice will be posted online on our web site (http://scotchhop.org.uk), Facebook page (www.facebook.com/linlithgowscotchhop) and Twitter account (@scotchhopp) around 4pm on the evening saying whether it will be outdoors in the palace or indoors in the Low Port Centre.
