About

Maps4Kids.com is now in its fifth year and we are really pleased with the success it has enjoyed. What started as a project to show my kids how to build a web site has grown into a learning tool that is now linked by nearly 1000 schools and homeschool groups around the world. It has even become part of the curriculum in many school districts around the U.S. In the 2010-2011 school year, visitors from 144 countries and all 51 states (counting DC) stopped by.

Our work over the summer has been to make the site even better. We have updated all of the CIA World Factbook data to its latest release.  All new is the video page with great clips that kids can watch to learn about geography and maps. We have added new quizzes to test knowledge of places around the world and added fun games like concentration to match images of places, map symbols and other geographic facts.

Another great addition of the interactive map pages which use Tableau Public to serve up maps and data in a way that allows kids to create different views of the data on the fly !

All this with a fresh new look and feel to make it easier and more fun to learn about Geography and Maps!
