About

The Marquavies Bernard Broughton Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives through education, awareness, advocacy, and compassionate support for families impacted by substance poisoning.

Founded by Frederica Roberson in loving memory of her son, Marquavies “Qua” Bernard Broughton, who tragically passed away at age 21 due to nitazene poisoning, the foundation was created to transform grief into purpose and prevent other families from experiencing similar loss.

The foundation works to educate youth, parents, schools, and communities about the dangers of fentanyl, nitazenes, and other emerging synthetic substances. Through community outreach, prevention education, advocacy initiatives, and public awareness campaigns, the organization is committed to equipping individuals with life-saving knowledge and resources.

Programs and initiatives include community education events, youth outreach, overdose prevention awareness, support for grieving families, and advocacy efforts focused on strengthening drug policy and increasing public safety. The foundation also works to build partnerships with schools, healthcare organizations, law enforcement agencies, and community leaders to expand prevention efforts and save lives.

Signature initiatives include Partnership for Purpose Day, a community 5K walk/run and resource event focused on awareness, remembrance, and prevention.

The Marquavies Bernard Broughton Foundation believes that every life matters and that education and awareness can prevent tragedy. Through its mission of turning pain into purpose, the organization continues to honor Marquavies’ legacy while working to protect future generations.
