About

Montgomery Housing Partnership is a private, nonprofit developer based in Silver Spring, Maryland.  It is the largest nonprofit housing developer in Montgomery County.

Formed in 1989 to meet Montgomery County’s growing need for affordable rental housing, MHP acquires, rehabilitates and builds quality apartments and homes for low- and moderate-income families. It has developed more than 1,100 units of affordable apartments, condos and townhomes, located primarily in Silver Spring, Takoma Park, Rockville, and Wheaton.

MHP’s holistic approach to housing includes providing affordable rents, developing Community Life and educational programs for its residents, and implementing neighborhood revitalization efforts in troubled communities impacted by foreclosures and the downturn in the economy. MHP is a chartered member of NeighborWorks® America.

MHP’s Community Life Programs were created in 1998. The programs include a bilingual Preschool Program, afterschool homework tutoring for school-aged children, Summer Enrichment Camps, a Teen Program, and computer training, among other things. The popular Preschool Program began in 2001 and operates at 4 locations - providing a stimulating environment for children ages 3-5 years old to play, explore and learn three days a week.
