As Miss North Carolina International, my passion and platform focuses on HIV/AIDS awareness and education. My inspiration for my platform came during the summer before my senior year at Wake Forest University. I was blessed with the opportunity to travel abroad to Kenya as an Amani Scholar with the Amani Children's Foundation and work with the HIV/AIDS crisis. The goal of this trip was and continues to be to bridge the gap between Kenya and the United States and to show people that HIV/AIDS is a disease that affects everyone. Shortly after this trip, I was able to get involved with Positive Wellness Alliance, an HIV/AIDS non-profit agency based out of Lexington, NC that provides case management, education and awareness for Forsyth, Davidson, Davie and Yadkin counties. I currently serve as the Board Co-chair for Positive Wellness Alliance, and I am able to serve my community as an advocate, spokesperson and ambassador for HIV/AIDS awareness, prevention and education. Through Positive Wellness Alliance, I was able to host an HIV/AIDS education seminar at my church to the youth group, and expand the presence of Positive Wellness Alliance and the need for HIV/AIDS education throughout my community.
Along with sharing my passion for HIV/AIDS, I also work full time as the Assistant to the CEO of United Rehab Specialist, and I am a part time Graduate student studying to obtain my Master's degree in Healthcare Administration. I rarely sit still, and I am always searching for a new adventure. God has blessed me with a passion for life and a love and compassion for everyone. My ultimate goal in life is to serve Him to the best of my ability. One of my favorite quotes comes from a song by the wonderfully talented Contemporary Christian singer Francesca Battistelli, and these inspirational words truly express the way I choose to live my life.
