About @Ms_RK_News

@Ms_RK_News is a media platform providing raw, “boots-on-the-ground” coverage of real people, law enforcement officials, firefighters, EMTs, politicians, ICE agents, business owners, and crime victims in the City of Chicago and surrounding areas. Ms. RK, the creator behind the page is an author, independent filmmaker and journalist working around the clock to cover stories that mainstream media won’t cover, and is usually first on the scene of major accidents, fires, shootings and protests before they arrive. She uses police scanners, neighborhood apps and TikTok to find new and developing stories. Her viral videos have been shared by major news outlets such as ABC Channel 7 Chicago and The Independent, as well as by social media influencers with over 1 million followers such as Anton Daniels.

She is simply known as Ms. “RK,” which is not only a pseudonym, but her real initials. There has been much controversy in how she reports, as her style is often confrontational when she is asking questions to get to the truth of a matter. Her interactions with law enforcement officers and EMT’s have exposed the truth about how public servants abuse their powers and try to violate the journalist’s First Amendment Constitutional rights when she tries to record them in the line of duty. She can be seen covering community events and protests alike, alongside prominent reporters such as Don Lemon and Shardaa Gray from CBS.

Ms. RK holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in mass media communications from Wilberforce University, an HBCU located in Wilberforce, Ohio, near Dayton and the Wright-Patt Airforce base. She graduated in the top 10% of her class with Magna cum laude honors and is the recipient of countless awards and honors including the Wilberforce University President’s Award and the UNCF Berbeco Senior Research Fellowship, which provided over $6,000 USD to travel to Nigeria, West Africa over the summer to complete research for her senior thesis. She also won an Avon Hello Tomorrow Fund award to start a non-profit program teaching literacy to girls. During her senior year at her university, she was honored as one of the American Advertising Association’s Most Promising Students, a high distinction for students in advertising, media and marketing.

Today, she holds insurance licenses in 5 different states, real estate licenses in 2 states, and 2 teaching licenses, all including the state of Illinois. She is also the CEO of a non-profit organization providing jobs for marginalized communities and low-cost consultations for business owners. She has been featured and/or quoted in textbooks, newspapers, magazines and news broadcasts all across America since the age of 15, when she first started her career in motivational speaking. The Lansing State Journal, Chicago Defender, Michigan Chronicle, Dayton Daily News, WBEZ Chicago, WVON, ABC-7 Chicago, and Advertising Age Magazine are just a few media outlets to mention.

Ms. RK’s talent in mass media communications is undeniable as her talent is reflected in the statistics of both of her TikTok accounts, @Ms_RK8 and @Ms_RK_News. Her TikTok live-streams have attracted 223,800 viewers who wrote 42,700 comments, since Ms. RK’s content is highly engaging. TikTok prioritizes content over follower counts, so her videos are pushed out frequently by the FYP (For You Page) algorithm, which she seems to have mastered.
