It was set up in 2008 by the multi-award winning personal finance journalist Alison Steed, who is a regular commentator on Sky News, and was the financial journalist behind the first five series of the popular Channel 4 show Superscrimpers: Waste Not, Want Not.

She was previously the deputy personal finance editor of The Daily Telegraph, and after going freelance in 2006 she maintains a notable presence writing for the national newspapers, including The Sunday Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph, The Times, Daily Express, and The Sun.
