About

The No Fluff Just Stuff Software Symposium Tour has delivered technically rich presentations which cover the latest trends within the Java/JVM ecosystem and Agility space to more than 60,000 software developers, architects and system administrators at over 360 events since 2001. NFJS is known for its pitch-free, attendee-centric approach and excellent speakers.

The No Fluff, Just Stuff Java symposium series got its start in April of 2001 in Denver, Colorado. The symposium director, Jay Zimmerman, hit upon this idea after having many discussions with clients and also through the Boulder Java User's Group which he chairs.

Events are held over long weekends to allow entire software development teams to attend as group, to allow the independent contractor to attend without giving up billable hours during the week, and to attract the best technical speakers, most of whom tend to be practicing consultants.

NFJS "roadshow" events cap attendance at 250 people. One of the key points of the "No Fluff, Just Stuff" Java Symposium Series is the high level of interaction between speaker and attendees at each conference. NFJS structure removes the barrier between speakers/attendees by having speakers attend other sessions and have breakfast/lunch with attendees there by creating an informal atmosphere where people can come together and discuss issues and learn from each other. NFJS offers a consistent presence in each region the symposium is offered in by hosting a annual event in each city that becomes part of the NFJS tour.
