Hailed as one of old New England's earliest inns (circa 1678),  The Old Groton Inn encompasses a restaurant, tavern, outdoor pool; and  a Carriage House for weddings & functions.   Groton Inn's foundations date back almost a full century before the American Revolution  This historical gem was formerly known as the "Groton Inn" and most recently "The Stagecoach Inn & Tavern" (it was a stagecoach stop).  Recently, it has been aptly renamed The Old Groton Inn and beckons guests to partake in its rich historical legacy.  Anyone staying at the Inn becomes a cherished visitor...much like some of the Inn's most famous visitors & guests including:  Paul Revere,  Ulysses Grant, Longfellow, Luther Burbank, Andrew Carnegie, Henry Ward Beecher, President Grover Cleveland, Alice and Eleanor Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and more recently:  Ted Kennedy, Mitt Romney,Paul Cellucci,  Goldie Hawn, and Kirk Russell to name a few.  The Groton Inn was accepted on August 3, 1976 for inclusion in the National Register of Historical Places.
The Old Groton Inn's Carriage House:  www.carriagehouseweddingcenter.com sits regally  looking at lovely Gibbet Hill, one of Groton's most picturesque views;  It is home to weddings, parties, functions, and business meetings of all kinds.  Call 978-448-5614 for reservations.
Much of the Inn's most sought after information is about the ghosts that haunt the overnight rooms; the shadows that take the shape of people; the untimely deaths of some associated with the inn; and a poltergeist that came for a horrifying visit.  Ask the staff.....they will tell you what they've heard & seen.
Enough of that.  Call 978-448-5614 to book a wedding; enjoy fireside dining; stay in an historical inn; visit the old tavern, book a tour or retreat; swim in the summer; see a ghost; or just stop by for a visit.  All are welcome. Call 978-448-5614 for more information.
