This book highlights important dates in the fight for freedom, justice and equality which began as early as 1619 with the first slaves up to the 14th Amendment. Generations later, as Americans, We stand On the Shoulders of Giants, the ones who fought before us, enjoying many social, economic, and political rights. It is through the struggle of our ancestors that we gain our strength. It is through their struggle that we continue to be inspired and through understanding that the war is long, but we, as a people, can win. Today, with movements such as Occupy Wall Street, we witness the togetherness of folks from different races, social, economic backgrounds that have joined hands for justice. We move forward, in remembrance of our ancestors.
