Medicare Alert: Jan 12th Medicare is removing your state’s coverage SIGN THE PETITION
Medicare is proposing to cut coverage for the best test we have for detecting heart disease before a heart attack. This procedure is called CTA and is covered by Medicare in every state. CTA is CT Angiography.  As seen in Time magazine and Oprah, it’s your doctors best test for detecting heart disease.  However, national Medicare in DC recently came under pressure from a lobbyist group that wants to overrule your state’s coverage of CTA. The vote is on January 12th, 2008.  These groups are attempting to take CTA away from our elderly and restrict its usage only to the members of their private health plan.  The story of how they convinced Medicare to give them control of the technology is even more sordid, and beyond the scope of this email.
Since CTA is not only a life-saving technology, but also a cost-savings technology. By cutting CTA, doctors will have to revert back to using more less-sensitive and more expensive tests. On top of the lives lost, this ruling is estimated to cost taxpayers over $1 Billion a year. Moreover, this ruling would freeze all new heart disease and cancer detection technologies that are in development.
We need your help in these ways:
1. Please sign the petition at: http://www.number1killer.org
