Paul N. Rubi (PN to his family and friends) is a rarity in Arizona: he is a Native. According to his family lore, the Rubi family has been traced to Northern Arizona as far back at 1803 when Arizona was part of the Spanish Empire. His maternal ancestry begins in Tucson in the middle 1800s. Paul was inculcated as a child with two defining values: love for his Mexican heritage and a deep and abiding veneration for the Constitution of the United States of America. The two are not mutually exclusive. Paul's column will focus on a wide variety of topics that will entertain and inform Examiner.com readers with new and information from a uniquely Mexican-American perspective on music, books, politics and language and anything else will be of importance to all citizens of Maricopa County.
