Pit Bulls “Up In Smoke” began competing in professional Kansas City Barbecue Society events in 2010.  We took on the world of professional competition straight out of the gate having never competed in any backyard events prior to our start.  Danny & Rebecca Coogle began competing in Georgia and have since expanded to the Southeastern states including AL, TN, SC, NC, and MS.

Our first year of competition brought us success bringing home six Top 5 finishes and finishing 5th Place out of 250+ teams in the Georgia Barbecue Championship.  We were thrilled with our 2010 competition year stats with it having been our first year ever competing in barbecue.

The 2011 competition year brought us even further in our professional standings taking home four Reserve Grand finishes with forty Top 10 category wins and finishing 4th in the Georgia Barbecue Championship (2nd among the 248 GA Teams competing.)  The 2011 competition year also had our team placed in the top 50 professional BBQ teams world-wide out of over 5000 teams (quite an achievement for the team).

Just to think, it all started with a stick-burner, a pop-up tent, some hickory wood, some soul, a lot of cold sleepless nights and blazing hot days, oh and lets’ not forget…determination!  With all that, we picked up some great sponsorship by Royal Oak Charcoal and Moore’s Marinade and we have been featured numerous times on BBQ Superstars.  We are currently in the final stages of our Online Barbecue School which will be made available to everyone with the heart to learn to cook Championship Barbecue.  And, of course, available through our website, are our championship bbq rubs, seasonings, and other products and cookbooks available for purchase.
