Willingness To Change is a non-profit organization committed to individuals and families to improve their quality of life by addressing addiction and it's related problems. Willingness To Change specializes in drug and alcohol interventions-, coaching, Counseling, DOT SAP Assessments, and education.


One of Willingness To Change's key professionals si Pete Nielsen, CADC-II. Mr. Nielsen is on the Board of California Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (CAADAC) as Regional Director for Region 5 (Northern CA). He is also a Certified Clinical Supervisor. As well as being a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor-II, he is an Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. He has an extensive background in providing addiction interventions and treatment. Mr. Nielsen is trained in the ARISE intervention model. He is currently working as a substance abuse professional in private practice providing interventions, recovery coaching, Department of Transportation drug and alcohol assessments, and counseling services. He is also teaching Alcohol and Drug Counseling Studies at InterCoast Colleges in Sacramento.

Mr. Nielsen has worked in residential and outpatient programs as an alcohol and other drug treatment counselor. He has worked with many specialized populations, such as adolescent, prenatal, women, criminal justice clients, and co-occurring. Mr. Nielsen has work specifically in detoxification, sexual assault, mental health, and domestic violence issues.  He has created specific programs to address women’s specific issues. He has collaborated with mental health, domestic violence, and social services agencies to help serve clents better and address their special needs.

Mr. Nielsen was on the Board of Directors for the National Alliance on Mental Illness West Slope Chapter from 2006 to 2008. He was Advisory Board Member for A Reason To Believe LLC, 2006 to 2008. He has also been awarded the President of the United States Presidential Volunteer Service award for 2007 and 2008. He has authored several articles such as, “The State of our Profession”, published in the 2007 Freedom newsletter; “Addiction Counselors Helping to Keep our Roadways Safe”, in 2008 Freedom Newsletter; “Becoming a Better Drug and Alcohol Counselor”, published in 2008 in Addiction Professional magazine online exclusive; Integrating the Family into Addiction Treatment in the December 2008 issue of California Together newspaper; and “Transformational Leadership: Helping Solve The Leadership Puzzle”, in October 2008 issue of Counselor Magazine.
