Power for All is a global advocacy organization working to accelerate universal access to electricity through decentralized renewable energy (DRE) solutions. It champions the fastest, most cost-effective, and sustainable path to ending energy poverty by promoting the integration of distributed energy into national electrification strategies.
Despite decades of effort, around 750 million people still lack access to electricity, and many more suffer from unreliable service. Power for All addresses this challenge by advocating for integrated energy systems that combine centralized grids with decentralized technologies—such as mini-grids, solar home systems, and productive-use appliances—to deliver affordable, reliable power to underserved communities.
The organization partners with governments, utilities, private sector actors, civil society, and local communities to shift mindsets, influence policy, and catalyze the political will needed to adopt DRE as a core component of electrification plans. Its work is grounded in evidence-based research, cross-sector collaboration, and on-the-ground engagement in high-impact countries including Uganda, Nigeria, and India.
One of Power for All’s flagship initiatives is Utilities 2.0, a pioneering pilot in Uganda that demonstrates how national utilities and decentralized providers can work together to extend electricity access faster and more affordably. The pilot delivered 3.5x faster connections, 30x higher electricity use, and 64% cheaper household access—positioning it as a replicable model to scale DRE integration and meet Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7).
Power for All also produces and disseminates cutting-edge research and practical resources—such as fact sheets, reports, webinars, and field stories—to inform decision-makers and support the energy access ecosystem. The organization’s global coalition includes hundreds of partners committed to ensuring modern energy access for all.
As a convener, catalyst, and communicator, Power for All works to ensure that decentralized renewables are not only included but prioritized in efforts to achieve universal energy access. Through its advocacy, it aims to unlock economic opportunity, improve health and education outcomes, and empower millions of people to lead better lives through clean, reliable electricity.
