We were a design and development shop and through the process of developing sites we needed access to lots of photo stock. Many image sites have restrictions on how you can use their content and insist on attribution and/ or linking back to show recognition. That's isn't always possible if the content is being used for print or the image is part of a slide show or carousel. Even if the restrictions were achievable the image may only be available for personal use meaning you have to contact them and negotiate a price for commercial use.
