Rainy Day Budget was first released as a desktop application in June 2008. It was immediately successful, receiving over 10,000 downloads in the first 5 months of being released. After two years in release and over 35,000 downloads, development began on a web-based version of Rainy Day Budget, which included some of the most requested feature additions. In September 2010, the Rainy Day Budget website was launched. Rainy Day Budget is offered to the world as a free service.

Rainy Day Budget was written and is maintained by Jordan Squire of Layton, Utah. Jordan is employed as a Web Application Programmer, but also enjoys programming as a hobby. Jordan is also currently working on his Master's Degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Utah and is motivated by a beautiful wife and daughter.
