About

New Delhi, 16th February 2016: Cygnus Hospitals, a group of  11 tertiary care hospitals across Delhi, Haryana and Punjab offering healthcare services in towns that had little or no access to quality health care, has tied up with Manav Rachna International University to offer the first of its kind course in India on Healthcare - Bachelor of Business Administration in Healthcare Management. This course will offer an intensive and deep insight into the healthcare delivery system over three years. Of this, one year will be spent on on-site internship and real life projects with hands-on training at various Cygnus Hospitals. Cygnus will also be deeply involved in the course matter evolution and preparation.

This is a much needed step as the Indian healthcare sector is projected to expand rapidly, with an estimated market value of US$ 280 billion by 2020. Healthcare is expected to be the next sunrise sector, with massive opportunities and scope for growth, much like the IT industry in the 1990s. And unlike any other industry, healthcare has been and will remain of permanent national and global importance.

This program will focus on:

● Targeted functional training.

● Industry oriented practical training.

● Soft skills for job readiness.

Dr. Dinesh Batra,  Director and Group CEO of Cygnus Hospitals, said that “I am very happy to be a part of this initiative as the healthcare field is facing a severe manpower crunch with an especially acute shortage of middle and senior level managers. We are thus forced to look at other industries like retail and hospitality to obtain skilled human resources. This entails wasting precious time and money in retraining them.  Our aim is also to open up new and more specialized avenues when Lack of critical skill set amongst the students limit their employability.”

Dr. Prashant Bhalla, President, MREI, said that “We are very pleased to have Cygnus Hospitals on board to help design and implement this program as we have always believed that a strong industry connect is necessary to produce students who can excel in their fields”.

Dr. Shuchin Bajaj, Director, Cygnus Hospitals said that “This will solve our problem of shortage of skilled manpower as we expand from 11 hospitals to 25 hospitals in the next two years. The lack of adequate quality supply has driven the need for Industry ready training requirements. Hence we have stepped in to fulfill this need gap. Having to face this challenge on a regular basis and envisioning a vast scope for such specialization, it was imperative to use our internal talent and best practices to set up a management program that would benefit potential students with an aptitude for health related services for years to come”.

Dr. Sudhir Gupta, Director, Cygnus Hospitals said that “We will be closely involved in the implementation and delivery of this programme and will also guide students for placements”.

Dr. Naveen Nishchal, Director, Cygnus Hospitals, said that "This program will help create middle level managers who can aspire to reach top level posts in the healthcare sector".

Dr. Amit Bhalla, Vice President MREI, Dr. Sanjay Shrivastava, Vice Chancellor MRU and Dr N. C. Wadhwa, Vice Chancellor, MRIU, were also present at the occasion which was blessed by Dr Pritam Singh, Ex Director,  MDI and Mr Syed Siddiqui, CEO, Maruti Udyog Ltd.

Cygnus Group of Hospitals is further progressing on their education path with tie-up with Global Health Alliance (GHA) and University of Leeds to offer an internationally recognised 2 day certification course in Echocardiography and ECG in entire Haryana state on 6th & 7th March 2016.
