"She's a REBEL" is more than just a phrase it’s a bold statement that best describes the debut collection of design duo Ramsey & Jade. Shown at the Fifth Night Club on South Beach, in benefit of the Gia Carangi Foundation who in June of 07sponsored the collection. The duo excited the crowd with a mix of motorcycle jackets, fitted suits, and edgy cocktail dresses along with American & British Flag tops and skirts, red tartan, and black and white mod print pants and their signature "Cadillac" & "Honda" belts which the hood ornaments came straight from the junk yard. The highlight of the show came when singer Lori Garrote of the band The NEW. strutted down the runway wearing the Red tartan skirt and Blouse combo. When she reached the end of the runway, the music came to a dead stop, She picked up her electric blue guitar and "rocked" the audience with the intro to the next song.
The Fifth owner, Gerry Kelly stood in amazement and called the show "Spectacular" Among the spectators in the crowd were Rocco G. of My Fashion News Live dot com and Tara Gilani the "Trend Tracker" from NBC6 who became instant fans. Starting in 2005 the design duo made the usual night club rounds showing their clothes. They've shown at Ozone Night Club in South Miami in '05 and in '06 at Elements Night Club in Wilton Manors, Fl.
Although the duo has no formal training, they continue to produce "Exclusive" 1 or 2 of a kind. . Ramsey & Jade are of Cuban American descent and learned it all and continue to learn from their 88 yr old maternal Grandmother who graduated in 1949 from the Instituto Nacional de Corte y Alta Costura in Havana, Cuba. They enjoy spending time with family, friends and their pets which is why they do NOT use REAL FUR in the making of their clothes. Designing women's wear with an edge, Ramsey & Jade don't want to be the next "House of..." follow color trends or any other rules of the industry. When confronted about shorter Models strutting their designs, they simply say two words KATE MOSS. Their future plans include expanding their client list, participating in future fashion week events, Launching the Men’s line called RPL Ramsey Petersson Label which will also feature a Women’s evening wear, fragrances, and accessories for BOTH Men and Women. The Duo showed in NY at their very first "Fashion Week" to a packed crowd in 07 and plan to return soon. Ramsey & Jade are on a great fashion path and have sustainability in an industry with an unusually high turn-over rate. Whether on the runway, in print, or in the clubs in Miami Ramsey& Jade continue to make a lasting impression.
