Board a narrow-gauge steam engine from Lakeland’s oldest, longest and undoubtedly, most scenic Railway, the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway, and journey for seven miles from the delightful coastal village of Ravenglass, through two glorious valleys, to the foot of England’s highest mountains.

With nine different station stops, there are plenty of trails and walks to explore so you can discover your very own part of the Western Lake District.

The Railway has a fantastic array of facilities available at both ends of the line, including, gift shops, cafés, children’s play areas, museum and pub. They also have a jam-packed calendar of events with something to suit every age and interest.

The Railway is easily accessible from the Central/Southern Lake District and is just a 50 minute drive from Windermere along the coast road. There are also fantastic connections with Northern Rail to Ravenglass Station, so you can sit back, relax and soak up the panoramic landscape of the Western Lakes.
