There are currently 663 million people in the world who live without clean water. That’s nearly 1 in 10 people worldwide. Or, twice the population of the United States. The majority live in isolated rural areas and spend hours every day walking to collect water for their family. Not only does walking for water keep children out of school or take up time that parents could be using to earn money, but the water often carries diseases that can make everyone sick. In fact, lack of clean water has caused more deaths than any form of violence, including war.

The craziest thing we can do is nothing. That is why we have committed to ride our bikes across the country this summer in order to raise awareness and fundraise for clean water projects through charity: water. We know riding our bikes won’t solve the global water crisis, but we believe that we can make a difference by starting conversations and donating money we raise along the way.

When you donate to the Ride for Water campaign, you are ensuring that communities in developing countries receive clean water. Since 2013, Ride for Water sponsors have donated over $358,000 to clean water projects through charity: water. The 2019 campaign will be open from January to September, and all donations will be tax deductible. 100% of the donations go directly to clean water projects through charity: water, and have provided wells for communities in Malawi, Tanzania, and Ethiopia. Just $30 can provide clean water to one person, and $10,000 can provide water to a whole community. For our 7th year, our goal is to invite over 700 donors to help us reach our $80,000 goal!
