About

SALT is your own personal journal of great restaurants, bars and cafes that always points you in the right direction. Use SALT to collect recommendations from anywhere, building your own searchable, shareable, personal city guidebook.SALT has taken a different spin on a pervasive problem - finding a great place for food or drink. Instead of creating an app of curated restaurants, bars, or coffee shops determined by an algorithm or “tastemaker”, SALT provides users with a clean slate to create their own personal list of must-try places based on recommendations or places they want to go back to.

Here’s how SALT works. Upon opening the app you will see a brief message explaining how the app works and a large “add place” button at the bottom of the screen. Once clicked, the app brings up any location near you. You can either select one of these locations or search for a different place to bookmark. You can also create custom lists of places, add notes about a location, and share lists with friends. To help new users get started, the SALT team imports old lists from notepads, excel files and other tools into the app for them.

“People get plenty of great recommendations for places to grab a beer or get Thai food; from colleagues at work, Instagram or even when walking down the street. SALT makes it simple for people to quickly organize these recommendations and share them with others.” explained Vivek George, SALT’s co-founder.
