About

The mission of the American Red Cross; prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors

The Red Cross does not receive funding from the federal government. Financial support comes from individuals, business, small organizations, other non profit organizations and corporations.

Established in 1917, the Southeaset Georgia Chapter of the American Red Cross has been serving our ever-expanding community for over ninety years. The Savannah Regional Chapter provides oversight for Red Cross activities in a 31 county region.

The goal of the local Red Cross is to help all individuals and families re-establish a household within one week following a house fire, thereby preventing them from becoming homeless.  There are various types of disasters that impact a coastal community and the Red Cross is always prepared to respond to the need of our community at large

The American Red Cross aims to teach area residents how to be aware of potential disaster threats (hurricanes, floods, tornados, etc) know how to prepare for disasters and how to respond when they happen to reduce injury, loss of life and property.

The Service to Armed Forces Emergency Services program helps the military family and the deployed service member communicate when an emergency occurs (i.e. family illness or death, unplanned surgery, serious behavioral issues involving children, etc.)
In some situations, The American Red Cross helps stabilize the family unit when unplanned financial emergencies arise that cannot be met by existing military resources.

The American Red Cross Health and Safety services aims to educate people to save lives by training them in how to prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.  The training provided meets the American Medical Association standards and OSHA standards for business.

The American Red Cross depends on volunteer support. There is always a need for more volunteers and there are many areas where volunteers can engage in Red Cross services. Volunteers can answer phones, assist with administrative task, support a Special Event,  Participate on a fundraising committee, donor thank you calls,  tell the Red Cross story, and so much more.
