About |
The Sleep Health Foundation (SHF) is a community-facing health promotion not for profit (NFP) that aims to raise community awareness about the value of sleep, how to improve it and address common sleep disorders. Our work seeks to enhance Australian’s everyday lives, to improve the nation’s health, safety and productivity. The Foundation receives no government resources and relies on the untied funding and support of corporate partners, members and donations from the general public.
Established in 2009 the organisation was founded from within the Australasian Sleep Association (ASA), the nation’s peak scientific body representing clinicians, scientists, and researchers in the broad area of sleep, with its active support. It has always operated independently of the ASA with its own board, own constitution, separate funding sources yet collaborates often and closely with the ASA.
Since its inception, the SHF has been focused on the consumer and the community by providing accessible, evidence-based information to raise community awareness about sleep health through advocacy, public education, and the facilitation of research. Regular reports on the state of the nations' sleep health and associated costs and concerns have made the Foundation an important authority on sleep health in Australia, and the ‘go-to’ resource for media commentary.
Led by an experienced Board of Non-Executive Directors, as well as an executive team, the Foundation prides itself on its expertise and independence.
