About

Sprig Aerospace is currently developing a heavy-lift unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for aerial applications in agriculture, or "crop dusting". This system will be able to takeoff and land vertically, capable of operating solely within the boundaries of a crop field, and be operable and repairable completely on site at any farm. The intent is to provide effective crop treatments to farms that reduces chemical use, maintain soil health, minimize field damage, and increase overall farm productivity.
Our team is currently developing the overarching structure of the aircraft, the payload assembly and custom flight control software. We are also currently prototyping advanced analytical tools that will provide the foundation for the treatment plans executed by the heavy-lift aircraft.
When complete, this will be the largest agricultural drone in the industry in terms of capacity (70 gals) and endurance (up to 1.5 hrs flight time). A key feature of this aircraft will be the ability to incorporate electrostatic spray nozzles, a "gold standard" for chemical application in the farm industry and we will be the first to incorporate in a drone aircraft at scale. Another feature that sets our technology apart is that it is designed for maximum repairability in the field which is an absolute requirement for farms during peak season. It will also have a footprint similar to smaller systems by being foldable for storage and not requiring the charging infrastructure of completely battery powered systems.
