Retail Store Operations represents the point where a retailer’s brand is delivered to the “brick and mortar” consumer, but also represents the single largest controllable expense for a retailer, primarily in the form of labor.  Further, any store expenditure on technology, training or other initiatives is a large expense, as it must be scaled to the number of stores that a retailer has.  This leads to a natural conflict of intent, as Retailers strive to control or reduce costs while maintaining high expectations regarding brand execution at the stores, without necessarily providing the stores with the tools to do so.
