The story of the future of tea®

In 2005, Tavalon Co-Founder and CEO John-Paul Lee was sitting in Covent Garden in London, drinking a Caffe Latte.

As he looked at the people around him, he noted that all of them- folks both young and old, from all different walks of life- were not sharing in his coffee-drinking experience, but instead enjoying tea. As an American, used to the frenetically fast-paced life coffee chains have inspired, this struck him as unusual, but amazing. Upon returning to the States, Lee brought the seed of inspiration of tea with him, sharing it with his friend, and another Tavalon Co-Founder, Sonny Caberwal. The two quit their corporate jobs and set off to bring the seed to fruition. All they needed was a tea expert to bring this idea to life.

Luckily for them, they soon discovered Tea Sommelier and the final Co-Founder of Tavalon, Chris Cason, at a tea convention in Las Vegas. The three quickly realized that this dream could actually be realized, and Tavalon was formed. The mission of Tavalon was simple and clear:

Utilizing over 200 focus groups to ensure that we've created absolutely delicious, one-of-a-kind recipes that will fit your tastes, our Tea Sommelier Chris Cason selects and blends premium loose leaf teas from all over the world.

Music is a passion that Tavalon has always drawn inspiration from. Like tea, music is an age-old experience shared and enjoyed practically everywhere around the world. The ubiquitous power of music reinforces tavalon's conviction that we can create great teas - accessible not just to connoisseurs, but to those from all walks of life.

Music has manifested itself in virtually every aspect of the company, permeating though not only our approach, but through our teas which we call 'mixes', 'remixes', and 'the uncut.' Like the music from whose name it is taken, mixes are our completely original inventions. Remixes, like in music, are our interpretations of classics. The uncut is just pure, amazing tea.

Tea has played a minimal role for far too long in the United States, overshadowed by the seemingly ubiquitous coffee bean empire, and mired in its own "traditional" image. The goal of Tavalon is to push tea back into the spotlight by presenting a fresh, new, accessible face for tea-- Tavalon tea.

Our objective is to become a tea company for both tea connoisseurs and newcomers to the tea world. We aim to provide premium teas and accessories to a global audience.
