About

Teen Ink is a monthly print magazine, website and book series with content written by teens for teens. Nearly 30 years ago, a husband and wife team (a publisher and a social worker, respectively) noticed a gaping hole in the publishing world for teen writing and art. Sure, there were teen magazines out there, but they were written by adult staff writers – not by teens themselves – and didn’t necessarily reflect what teens are experiencing and thinking about on a daily basis.

Thus, Teen Ink was born – with a mission to provide a free, safe, and positive platform for teens to express themselves. The response from teens was amazing. Submissions of art, poetry, fiction, memoirs, reviews, and photography came pouring in.

Almost 30 years later, Teen Ink’s mission remains the same, and our website, magazine, and books continue to showcase the writing and art of teens from across the United States – and around the world! A Teen Ink editor reviews every one of the more than 80,0000 submissions we receive each year, with the goal of publishing as many teens as possible.
