About |
The CCL is a non-party voluntary pan-Commonwealth civil society organisation (founded in 1925 by Alice Hemming) that grew from the British Commonwealth League (founded in 1923). The CCL was heavily influenced by the suffrage movement to fight for women’s equality and the right to vote.
CCL promotes the education of girls and young women and links together women’s organisations throughout the Commonwealth. In particular, it raises money for its associated charity, the Commonwealth Girls Education Fund (CGEF)
