The Funny Side launched its first club, 'The Funny Side...of Covent Garden', in April 2006. Originally running just once a week, within the space of a year it had won 'Best Comedy Venue (London Small)' in The Chortle Awards and, due to its rapidly increasing popularity, had expanded to operate on Wednesdays and Fridays in addition to Sundays. Thursdays and Saturdays soon followed and until February 2010 it was one of the only clubs in the country to offer top quality stand-up comedy five nights a week.

In September 2008 the company launched a second location 'The Funny Side...of The City' to bring the same high level of comedic talent to London's Square Mile.

The club received extensive press coverage owing to the fact that 2008 also saw the banking industry hit by the effects of the global economic downturn.

Bucking the trend; three years on, it still runs every Thursday evening and has become a thriving hub for City workers seeking an antidote to the area's trademark financial doom and gloom.

The Funny Side of...Clapham Common launched in November 2009 and initially running on the last Thursday of every month, has now increased the frequency of it's shows to fortnightly.

2010 was a year of change for The Funny Side with it's host venue in Covent Garden being sold and the lovely Covent Garden function room, which had acted as a stage for the likes of Lee Mack, Harry Hill and even Hollywood superstar Robin Williams, found itself turned into a commercial kitchen. Luckily The George on the Strand, located just a 5 minute walk away, stepped in to give The Funny Side of Covent Garden a new home for Friday and Saturday evenings.

Despite this unexpected setback, the company continues to see healthy growth, seeking out new venues in keeping with The Funny Side's 'boutique' appeal. The Funny Side of Earlsfield launched in 2010 and runs fortnightly on Fridays at local Arts Centre TARA Studio. New clubs for 2011 include The Funny Side All New in Leicester Square - a new, variety-focused comedy night, every Wednesday.

In addition to clubs, The Funny Side operates in a range of other areas within the comedy industry including writing and directing, production, promotion, graphic and web design and artist management.
