The John Bentley School is a community-focused academy set in the heart of stunning Wiltshire countryside in the historic town of Calne.
The John Bentley School - An Academy Inspiring Excellence
The John Bentley School has a vibrant community of 11 – 18 year olds taught and supported by a team of staff that understand how to develop young people and provide an outstanding educational environment.
The school is a wonderful place to work. We are very successful and very healthy in terms of students, staff, results, facilities and budgets. We have over 1100 students from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds, making us truly comprehensive. There is a happy and committed staff team of over 150. All staff at the school work hard to ensure that all students achieve ‘more than they ever thought possible’.
The campus has taken many guises in the school’s illustrious history but none so well equipped and meticulously planned as the current site. From our recently opened 6th Form centre, home to over 150 students, to our established and historical main building where generations of pupils have come to learn and study.
Achieving Academy status in 2011 has enabled the school to develop key areas of the curriculum and resources available to students and staff. Ofsted confirmed The John Bentley School academic success in their most recent report dated June 2010 stating, 'A good school with many outstanding features'. Since the report many new and exciting developments have been successfully introduced to maintain the schools forward thinking attitude and ensure we remain at the fore front of student recruitment in the community.
