Those Willows formed as an acoustic duo in 2007 by Detroit musicians Melissa Tarter and Jack Wells. The pair's music has evolved to incorporate a spectrum of genres including soul, folk, rock, and jazz. They successfully released their first full-length album Rivertown, in February 2012 which gave birth to the band’s first music video from the albums single, Cold Water. The pair’s songs have been heard on television shows both in the United States and Europe including: “Lying Games” (ABC Family), the UK's “Skins,” and reality shows on Animal Planet, MTV, VH-1 and Bravo. The duo has performed across Michigan at festivals such as Detroit's Motown Winter Blast, Royal Oak’s Arts, Beats and Eats and Lansing's Festival of the Sun. The band recently relocated to Portland, Oregon and is currently touring Portland’s intimate, eclectic music venues embracing the west coast music scene. This genre-hopping, harmony induced duo has been proudly compared to Simon and Garfunkel, Fleet Foxes, Mamas and the Papas and She and Him.
