The International Au Pair Exchange (TIAPE) is a U.S. Department of State designated au pair program. As a designated sponsor, TIAPE places young and enthusiastic adults in the age group of 18 to 26 years from a growing list of countries with families in the United States looking for childcare. Au pairs provide childcare assistance while participating in cultural exchange and completing academic courses at an accredited post-secondary institution. TIAPE also offers exciting and unique cultural exchange opportunities for young Americans wishing to travel abroad as an au pair.
TIAPE works with carefully selected international partners to screen and match qualified au pairs with their host families. The growing list of countries that TIAPE partners belong to, include, Germany, France, China, Spain and other European countries. It provides support to host families through a network of Local Exchange Coordinators and staff in its Bellingham, WA headquarters.
TIAPE’s mission is to provide a life-enriching experience in the United States for these young adults and quality, affordable childcare for the family. TIAPE is proud to support international and cultural understanding by connecting the world, one family at a time.
