The Institute of Chili was inspired by the legendary San Antonio Chili Queens, a group of 19th century Mexican-American women who set up stalls in San Antonio’s outdoor plazas selling chili con carne to shoppers and passersby. Founded by artist and entrepreneur Ana Fernandez, The Institute operates from various locations in San Antonio including Alamo Street Eat Bar in Southtown, The Point Park & Eats in Leon Springs, and The Block SA near the University of Texas San Antonio campus.
