Nations Collide ‘USA vs. Cuba’ - House of Fame MMA Opens Doors for Cuban Fighters in the U.S.
Miami, FL (February 23, 2014) – On the heels of the Obama administration punching the biggest hole to date in America's half-century-old embargo, House of Fame MMA (HOF), a fast-rising Florida-based mixed martial arts promotion, gives Cuban-based fighters the opportunity to compete in the U.S. for the first time. The highly anticipated event, Nations Collide ‘USA vs. Cuba’, will take place at the BankUnited Center in Miami, Florida on March 13, 2015.
According to HOF MMA Founder Paris Tsitos, ‘We are very excited to host our first MMA event in Miami and what better way to do it than to give Cuban-based fighters the opportunity to fight under the HOF MMA banner. Although tensions have eased between the U.S. and Cuba, obtaining visas for the fighters has proven to be a challenging process, but we feel that it is well worth it. Words cannot express how excited we are to give fighters in Cuba the opportunity to showcase their skills in the U.S.’
HOF MMA officials expect to receive visa approval for several Cuban-based mixed martial arts athletes in the coming days. Upon approval, the skilled Cuban fighters will be one step closer to realizing their dream of fighting on U.S. soil. In less than one month’s time they will travel from Cuba to Miami to test their skills against elite U.S. fighters under Amateur MMA rules.
The historic Amateur MMA card is a prelude to the Nations Collide ‘USA vs. Cuba’ pro MMA card. The pro card, stacked with 11 high-octane bouts, pits skilled Cuban-American fighters against worthy U.S. opponents.
