Vilalara Grand Hotel Algarve is a five star quiet luxury resort set on the clifftops of Porches, on the Algarve coast of Portugal. Founded in 1966, it belongs to the same generation as the great founding resorts of Southern Europe, the small circle of properties that shaped the Mediterranean summer more than half a century ago.
The resort comprises 111 suites and 10 apartments within eleven hectares of subtropical gardens, home to more than 250 plant species, descending to a private beach framed by golden cliffs. In 1990 Vilalara opened Portugal's first thalassotherapy centre, and its heir, today's Wellness Club, draws seawater directly from the Atlantic for integrative programmes dedicated to restoration and longevity. In 2026 Vilalara celebrates its 60th anniversary with a sensitive renovation inspired by the tones and textures of the surrounding cliffs, and a year of celebrations under the signature Six decades preserving the Algarve's Eden.
