About

Since 1924, The Vincent Smith School has been the premier, day school on Long Island for families seeking small classes, specialized teaching for learning differences, and a warm, nurturing environment for students in grades 1-12.

Vincent Smith is widely known for our personalized programs for students with school anxiety, ADHD, or learning disorders such as Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, and Language Processing Disorders. We offer on-site, professional services for speech, reading, counseling, and occupational therapy, integrated into the regular school day.

We emphasize academic success, differentiated instruction, and a strong home-school connection, in small, supportive classes.  Approximately 85% of our graduates go on to college or other post-secondary programs. Vincent Smith students have achieved successful careers in the arts, media, education, and entrepreneurship.

Our students learn HOW to learn, while developing essential social and emotional skills necessary for their success beyond school. We limit class size in order to serve each student's specific learning style and needs, with a classroom average of 5 students. We value assessing over strict testing, while adhering to all of the NY State requirements for curriculum and a High School diploma.

Vincent Smith's specialized curriculum is supported by emphasis on music and art, along with physical education and engaging electives and clubs such as yoga, photography, and newspaper.
