Young New Yorkers predominantly provides court-mandated programs to 16- and 17-year-olds who are otherwise sentenced classified as adults under New York State law. In most cases, upon the successful completion of our programs, the participants’ cases are sealed, leaving their young lives uninhibited by an adult criminal record. Each program, whether it is for one day or eight weeks, culminates in an exhibition of our young participants’ art works, giving members of the criminal justice system an opportunity to re-meet our extraordinary young people beyond their rap sheets.
