Biography

Marsha  Bowers was born and raised in the Central Valley of California.
She is skilled both in fine art and decorative art which include murals, trompe l'oeil, painted furniture and fine faux finishes such as gilding, verre eglomisé (reverse gilding on glass) marble, stone, and wood graining.

The artist is classically trained in the old Masters techniques of Flemish/Bistre and Venetian method using a grisaille underpainting and glazing with many layers. Most of her fine art paintings are rendered in oil. She sometimes applies real gold leaf into the art pieces.

Marsha finds inspiration in the old masters of the past. She spends many hours visiting Museums studying their work. Gothic and Renaissance are her favorite periods along with the Pre-Raphaelites artists. Her recent fine art paintings are of women, both figurative and portraiture. They have a dream like quality to them. Each painting has a story to tell and the artist hopes they will speak to each viewer.

Most recently Marsha was invited to be included into the International Contemporary Masters Volume IV and V hardbound books which were published in December of 2010 and December of 2011. The books were distributed to all major book stores and art galleries. Marsha has won numerous awards and her art has been purchased by many private and commercial collectors throughout the United States and Canada.
