Our primary focus at AFIL is to help veterans through house modifications like RAMPS, WIDEN DOOR WAYS, BATHROOM REMODELS WITH ROLL IN SHOWER STALLS AND ROLL UNDER CABINETS, THE SAME FOR THE KITCHEN, WITH DROP DOWN CABINETS, ROLL UNDER SINKS, LOWER OVENS AND RANGE TOPS and so on. If their existing home is not able to be modified then we will help with looking for different house that will work or we will help secure land to construct them a new house that will exceed the needs of the individual.
Other programs we offer consist of the CHARITABLE GIFTING OF REAL ESTATE, HEALTH AND WELL-BEING, ADVOCACY AND REFURRAL and FINANCIAL LITERACY.

We are currently in the process of renovating a home in Waterloo, IA  and it will open as a transitional home for Veterans in our area.  Our intention is to help the homeless veterans to have a place to stay and transition back into the community as empowered individuals.  We plan to provide them with job training, health and medical care during their stay.  Our hopes are to help these individuals get to a point where they can move onto other transitional housing and continue to participate in the community in a productive manner.

Our men and women who put their lives on the line for us and come back with a major disability from war, deserve a home. These homes should fit their needs and means for them and their family to strive as independently in their community as the rest of us do. A majority of these families can’t afford the cost of modifying or building a home that will meet their needs.

Our goal is to be able to shrink these costs down to a minimum or wipe them out completely. We feel in our hearts that if every able individual in this country could help someone in need, either individually or through some organization by donating money, time or talent that this country would again be the, COUNTRY OF CHOICE throughout the world.
