About the Author
Stephanie Osborn is a former payload flight controller, a veteran of over twenty years of working in the civilian space program, as well as various military space defense programs.
Stephanie holds graduate/undergraduate degrees in four sciences: Astronomy, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, and she is "fluent" in several more, including Geology and Anatomy. She obtained her degrees from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN and Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.
She has worked on numerous Space Shuttle flights and the International Space Station, and counts the training of astronauts on her resume. Of those astronauts she trained, one was Kalpana Chawla, or "K.C.," a member of the crew lost in the Columbia disaster.
Stephanie is currently retired from space work. She now happily writes science fiction mysteries based on her knowledge, experience, and travels.
One of her current novels (in e-book and trade paperback formats) by Twilight Times Books is Burnout, a science fiction mystery about a Space Shuttle disaster that turns out to be no accident. As the true scope of the disaster is gradually uncovered by the principal investigators, "Crash" Murphy and Dr. Mike Anders, they find themselves running for their lives, as lovers, friends and coworkers involved in the investigation perish around them. What happened to the Shuttle? Who is responsible and why? Why is the government calling it an accident? Why is someone willing to kill to keep it a secret? And how big is the conspiracy? An exciting action techno-thriller, Burnout will leave you on the edge of your seat, not wanting to put it down. Burnout has been in Fictionwise's SF Top 25.
Also recently released as an e-book, and coming in trade paperback in Fall 2009, is The Y Factor, coauthored with Darrell Bain, multiple Eppie Award winner. It is the next novel in the Cresperia series. Osborn's mentor, Travis "Doc" Taylor, and Bain co-authored the first novel of the series, Human By Choice, published by Twilight Times Books. The Cresperians are an alien race whose starship wrecks in our solar system, with some of the lifepods landing scattered around Earth. The series tells of the new "space race" that ensues as various nations vie for the Cresperians and their technology. The Y Factor is a Fictionwise best-seller.
Stephanie is maintaining her collaboration with Darrell Bain, and they are in discussions for the plot of the third, yet-untitled book in the Cresperia series. In addition, Stephanie is thrilled to be collaborating with her mentor, Travis S. "Doc" Taylor, on the first in a series of books. The first book is Extraction Point!, another action packed techno-thriller.
She also has two manuscripts complete on her own series, regarding the discovery of alternate universes, and the commotion which ensues when the inhabitant of one universe inadvertently crosses into our own.
