Burma Democratic Concern today condemns the Chinese and Russia Governments for backing up Burmese Military Regime

Burma Democratic Concern today condemns the Chinese and Russia Governments for backing up Burmese Military Regime. With the support of Russia and China, military regime ignores international community and daringly killed peaceful demonstrators without showing respect to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Chinese government is not only violating human rights by itself in Tibet crisis, but also supporting to violate in Burma by backing up the junta.

Burma is now threatening regional peace and security with the half million soldiers, trying to get nuclear technology and trying to perpetuate military rule in Burma. Looking back the history, before the World War ΙΙ in Japan, military generals were very powerful and at last Japan became the aggressor and the war broke out and millions of lives were lost. Such a small country, Japan, threatened the global peace and stability.

Russia shouldn’t make mistake by supporting Burmese military regime which is the threat to regional peace and security. Russia did make the alliance with the Hitler before the World War ΙΙ and at last faced invasion of Nazi Germany. Russian leaders should learn from history and anticipate supporting democratic forces in Burma rather than neo-Nazi military generals of Burma.

“I would like to ask the Governments of China and Russia that if the people killed by the Burmese military regime were their own, are they going to let that happen or object it” said Khin Maung Win, former political prisoner and Director of Burma Democratic Concern in United States.

Now political prisoners in Burma’s jails and 500,000 strong Buddhist monks are barred from voting in referendum which highlight that Military Government is trying to do everything they can to cling the power.

“We take great expectation on China and Russia representing the justice, world peace and global security. So for the sake of peace in our country, for the sake of peace and harmony in our region and in our world, we would like to urge the China and Russia to work harder towards bringing true democratic progress in Burma” Khin Maung Win added.
